Texas and Beyond

 It's "Another" Boy!

Grandson number two, Charlie, was born exactly 2 weeks, 12 hours and 2 minutes after Grandson number one, Landon, was born. We are here up in Lubbock until Sunday, and Charlie is just as precious as Landon and almost the same size. Charlie weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and 20 inches long and Landon was 6 pounds 15 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long. He arrived yesterday afternoon while we were still on the road trying to get here, but it's an 8 hour + drive, so we missed it by 5 hours. He tried to wait he told us, but was too anxious to meet his mom and dad "out of the box." Both look like their dad's at this point, so both are different in looks, coloring, but the same size and both extremely handsome like their papas. Wish we could get them together and lay them side by side, but Landon lives only 30 miles from our home and too soon to make such a long trip.

Charlie

So precious is his life
Such an innocent soul,
To be nurtured and loved
A responsibility to uphold.
Charlie's Mommy and Daddy
And his entire family,
Must encourage and strengthen
His lifetime abilities.
Teach him to know God
Teach him right from wrong,
To be good and to be kind
Give him courage to remain strong.
He can already feel
The love that surrounds him,
Heartwarming moments
Filled to the brim.
Gentle caresses
Loving hearts,
Smiles and admirations
For Charlie from the very start.
Welcome to our world
You sweet little guy,
When you are ready for answers
We'll be there to tell you why.
But for now just enjoy
Your Mommy's and Daddy's love,
As you are wonderfully blessed
From your Heavenly Father above.

 God Has A Plan

I had this in one of my earlier posts, but decided to change it like I usually do for friends and family to personalize it. So decided to do it for Hailey and if there is anyone else who would like to personalize it to fit someone you love then feel free to use it if you would like, just please remember who the author is.

Hailey asked with a tear in her eye
"Where is the sunshine that was up in the sky?"
Damommas answered with an encouraging smile
"Only God knows the answer my child
God has a plan and I know for sure
Please don't feel sad, He'll send the right cure."
Suddenly Hailey giggled out loud
As a cooling breeze blew away the darkened cloud
There in its place appeared a rainbow so bright
It was truly an incredible, heart-warming sight
A promise God had made a long time ago
Decorated the Texas sky with a colorful glow
"Damommas," she said, "God is painting the sky!"
Then Hailey pointed to the rainbow so high
Damommas whispered, "God has special brushes to make it so large
The rainbow helps us remember Who is always in charge."
Hailey reached out to take Damommas' hand
As the sunshine began to cover this Texas land
"Damommas always knows," Hailey thought with love
As they walked hand in hand, enjoying the rainbow above.

 I Suppose!

I want to write
I want to compose
I want too much
I suppose.
My mind is a blank
With nothing inside
The words won't come
Within my dwindling pride.
What do I expect
My energy's spent
My shoulders are humped
My poor back is bent.
My eyes are red
Itchy and dry
The pages blur
No matter how I try.
My hand is achy
My fingers are cramped
My writing is messy
My brow is damp.
An agitated foot
Is tapping the floor
My mind is crying
"Just run out the door!"
Walls are closing in
I have a suffocating feeling
My nerves are on edge
Jumbled thoughts are reeling.
Experiencing hunger pangs
Stomach is rumbling
Blood pressure's up
My life is stumbling.
Suddenly I realize
I composed after all
Throughout my complaining
I've conquered a fall.

 Void of Despair

A cry
in the dark
A whimper
leaves its mark
A smile
never seen
A world
full of mean
A child
ever knowing
A distrust
ever growing
A life
thrown away
A heartache
here to stay
A parent
doesn't protect
A system
shows neglect
A journey
taken too soon
A prayer
to cocoon
A need
for peace
A must
for release
A time
to review
A place
to renew
A child
needs care
A home
void of despair
A God
to show love
A heaven
awaiting above.

 The Children of the World

The children of the world
So innocent, so sweet
The adults of the world
So in control to defeat
tiny little souls
given to us by God from above
twisting their small hearts
destroying their innocent love.
The children of the world
Should have the right
To be loved unconditionally
From the hope of first light
blinking little eyes
first view of the new
tiny little mouths
like kittens they mew.
The children of the world
Should be cherished from the start
Loved beyond anything earthly
Until they depart
from this varied world
back into God's loving arms
free from adult's anger
free from adult's harm.
The children of the world
Our future, our hope
Should have a chance
To be able to cope
as functioning adults
without any scars
brought from their childhood
without lives broken into shards.
The children of the world
So fragile from birth
Should be protected
Upon this great earth
by loving parents
all relatives as well
making certain their little lives
don't become a living hell.
