Call my husband and I just a couple of crazy kids, but we have seriously been kicking around the idea of selling out:property, home and possessions, and investing in a motor home. Not a new or huge one, nor a fancy one, but one that we would be comfortable in and could pull our Jeep Cherokee.
We love to travel around the good old USA, but with hubby's health, we haven't done much, but you know, the more I read other's blogs, the more I realize that the world is just moving too fast for all of us.
Our five children are scattered now, that means our now 3 grandchildren as well. I'm only one more school year from retiring, but early retirement sounds good also. Have to check on the monies. Unfortunately seems like most things do revolve around finances or lack there of. Our kids think it is a wonderful idea. Just come and visit, making our rounds to them all and staying a bit. Seattle, Georgia, Lubbock and Bastrop (both in Texas). Family all over the USA (hubby and I are both military brats.)
I so often think of what I would do if hubby passes away. I would have such a mess to figure out, and vice-versa. This way we would have it all taken care of, down sized to a minimum, and no property taxes!
The kids wouldn't have to go through everything and figure out what to do with it all. We'll either give it to them now, or sell it if they don't want any of our things. Of course there are a few things I wouldn't part with, but not much.
I could photograph along the way wherever our travels take us and still make cards from that region. Even hit the craft shows and set her up. With only cards, not much weight to have to haul around. I would take the sewing machine along and work on my small craft ideas as well.
One big hitch. Hubby's sister lives with us and most of the furniture is from their parent's home and is hers. She does have a job, so I feel she could get herself a small place. She is my age, never married, lived only one year from home, no children and have lived with us for 6 years since their dad passed away.
Hubby goes through the VA and will soon be on Medicare we hope because he has been disabled for over two years, so medical is not a problem.
When we get home on Sunday, we will work it all out on paper and see if it is feasible, money wise. Wish us luck and please keep us in your prayers. It would be a tremendous step for us.
