 LOVE (Happy Valentine's Day)

LOVE can hurt or LOVE can heal
LOVE can make a young heart feel,
LOVE can make an old heart sing
LOVE can do most anything.
LOVE to some is just a game
LOVE can make a wild streak tame,
LOVE can be seen in a small child's smile
LOVE someone, it is truly worthwhile!
LOVE is trusting his every word
LOVE is the sound of a singing bird,
LOVE is the sparkle she gets in her eye
LOVE is a tear when saying good-bye.
LOVE is a gift that you should cherish
LOVE can be lost or forever perish,
LOVE can be soft or it can be hard
LOVE is as simple as giving a greeting card.
LOVE is a feeling that is deep within
LOVE is a wonderful time to begin,
LOVE makes you happy or it can make you cry
LOVE cannot find its way if you do not try.

I posted this before, but decided to post it again in honor or Valentine's Day tomorrow.

 LOVE LABOR OF A POET

Tucked away
in my head
little cubbies
in which I tread.
Color coded
tiny drawers
help me think
in metaphors.
Some are hinged
some are round
some are creaky
some minus sound.
Pull one out
then two, then three
peeking inside
and what do I see?
Words of all sizes
shapes and swirls
hidden treasures
virgin pearls.
Notable tidbits
of this and that
some are fancy
others are flat.
Picking out one
making it fit
rotating it slowly
just a bit.
Like puzzle pieces
where do they go?
takes some effort
to finally know.
Taking its shape
like pottery clay
molding and smoothing
a triumphant display.
A finished product
worthy of the try
a personal best
held up high.
Locating an audience
even it's just one
the love labor of a poet
is pridefully done.

 Doing Battle Within

Can you hear them?
The voices in my head
Whispering and conniving
Thinking they are quite clever
These mumblers of the dark!

Greedy little fellows they are
Demanding bits and pieces of me
Takers of the unsuspecting host
But they are unaware
These nibblers of coherent patterns!

This person hiding behind the mask
Refuses to play their midnight games
Clanging their offbeat notes
Vibrating the walls within my brain
These interrupters of peaceful slumber!

Foolish little critters they are
Manipulating my world within
Planning and executing
What they think is a barrage upon my senses
These scheming vile creatures!

My secret weapon is poised for action
One by one relocating these invaders
Of my wandering sleepless mind
Pen upon paper extracting yesterday's worries
These violators of past thoughts!

My forehead is a trifle achy
From doing battle within
The mumbling and clanging has ceased
My being silently bids farewell to
These prisoners within the pages of my journal!

Thinking About Hitting The Open Road!

Call my husband and I just a couple of crazy kids, but we have seriously been kicking around the idea of selling out:property, home and possessions, and investing in a motor home. Not a new or huge one, nor a fancy one, but one that we would be comfortable in and could pull our Jeep Cherokee.

We love to travel around the good old USA, but with hubby's health, we haven't done much, but you know, the more I read other's blogs, the more I realize that the world is just moving too fast for all of us.

Our five children are scattered now, that means our now 3 grandchildren as well. I'm only one more school year from retiring, but early retirement sounds good also. Have to check on the monies. Unfortunately seems like most things do revolve around finances or lack there of. Our kids think it is a wonderful idea. Just come and visit, making our rounds to them all and staying a bit. Seattle, Georgia, Lubbock and Bastrop (both in Texas). Family all over the USA (hubby and I are both military brats.)

I so often think of what I would do if hubby passes away. I would have such a mess to figure out, and vice-versa. This way we would have it all taken care of, down sized to a minimum, and no property taxes!
The kids wouldn't have to go through everything and figure out what to do with it all. We'll either give it to them now, or sell it if they don't want any of our things. Of course there are a few things I wouldn't part with, but not much.

I could photograph along the way wherever our travels take us and still make cards from that region. Even hit the craft shows and set her up. With only cards, not much weight to have to haul around. I would take the sewing machine along and work on my small craft ideas as well.

One big hitch. Hubby's sister lives with us and most of the furniture is from their parent's home and is hers. She does have a job, so I feel she could get herself a small place. She is my age, never married, lived only one year from home, no children and have lived with us for 6 years since their dad passed away.

Hubby goes through the VA and will soon be on Medicare we hope because he has been disabled for over two years, so medical is not a problem.

When we get home on Sunday, we will work it all out on paper and see if it is feasible, money wise. Wish us luck and please keep us in your prayers. It would be a tremendous step for us.

 The Stream

The quiet
lingers in the darkness
only the light
of my monitor
keeps the shadows
from covering
all in their path.
The stillness
is haunting
in its own way
yet the sound
of the computer keys
striking is like an
old trusted friend.
The knowing
that hidden thoughts
are always welcomed
within the flowing
cool waters of
The Stream for the
healing of one's soul.
The friendships
developed among
searchers in this
world of self discovery
are finding a way to
escape the hate-filled
replacing it with kindness.
The strong
giving support when
and where needed
knowing the difference
between the rights and
wrongs within the realm
of the enduring Stream.
The Stream
everlasting through
trials and tribulations
of posts and comments
hopes and dreams
making this earthly life
far more than much less!
