 The Quilt of My Life!

Mismatched squares
upon my bed
tenderly sewn
with living thread.
Fifty nine years
of color schemes
interwoven marvels
of living dreams.
Softened pink
blanket of love
a journey started
with help from Above.
Flowered prints
some stained with dirt
youthful mishaps
riddled with hurt.
Teenage paisley
patterns so bright
growing in knowledge
growing in height.
Wedding gown lace
all in white
proudly earned
by doing what's right.
Baby blue blanket
from my first born
a little tattered from use
soiled and torn.
Army jungle green
hubby wore in Viet Nam
two tours took away
what used to be calm.
Baby pink lace
stained with tears
not knowing at first
if she would live that year.
Patches of this
and pieces of that
left over scraps
lovingly sewn with matching hats.
Two unexpected arrivals
two blankets of pink
doubled our children
within only a blink.
Years went by quickly
the quilt of my life grew
joined by another soft pink
How that happened? We have no clue!
Sewing and mending
throughout the years
swatches of cloth
covering my five dears.
Grade school through college
three weddings, three brides
all wearing white lace
our joys, our prides.
One little granddaughter
lots of pink lace
our Little Princess
running her own life race.
One little grandson
a blanket of blue
exactly two weeks later
joined by grandson number two.
Wedding number four
is set for December
white lace will abound
among moments to remember.
The quilt of my life
fifty nine years it has grown
as it chronicles its own journey
with a life of its own.

 Thursday's Tidbits!

1. It is 3:10 AM. I am restless, so blogging and hubby is in pain, so trying to get some relief in his recliner.

2. Have to take granddaughter back today after having her several days. She is our Little Joy within this world.

3. Get to babysit grandchildren today while our daughter goes to her doctor appointment for a check-up. As they say, "It's a terrible job, but someone's gotta do it!"

4. Our youngest is on cloud nine as she and her fiance prepare for their December wedding. I love seeing her happy!

5. I have a toothache! Any dentists in the house?

6. I have lost 10 pounds!!!! Hooray!!!

7. Now that summer school has ended, I have no excuses for not cleaning the house from top to bottom! Does anyone out there have a good one I can use in its place?

8. I'm trying to get all my finances straightened out!!! Is it as hard as I think it is or am I really that numerically illiterate?

9. My best friend, who is going through chemo, is doing great!

10. My God Is An Awesome God!

 Dave's Wheelchair Story

Happy Father's Day everyone!

I wanted all of my friends who visit me to please take the time and visit the blog, "Dave's Wheelchair Story." It was started the day Dave fell from a ladder and became a paraplegic and it's a running log of his progress by his mother, Faye.

It is a truly remarkable account of one family dealing with such a tragic event in their lives and the day to day struggle to deal with the situation.

I know you will be inspired as I was by their courage and strength.

God Bless and have a wonderful day.
