Texas and Beyond

 Changing Times!

I have made an important decision tonight. I'm going to quit my extra job I have had for over 12 years at the video store.

WHY? Many reasons really. My bosses have decided to not trust me, so they put in the computer ACCESS DENIED in areas that I have always had access since they bought the store from the former owners 1 1/2 years ago. They said they didn't want one employee have anymore power than anyone else. So now I can't do my job like I used to be able to. Now I have to leave notes to the owners for them to enter into the computer information that I was able to take care of myself. It is a big mess and I decided tonight enough is enough.

I have done nothing but supported them and have gone over and beyond to help them be successful. Now I feel like I just don't want to be there anymore. I could either do it the good way or the not so nice way. For me, I have no option. I'm a Christian and have always done to the best of my ability to show a good Christian attitude. So I will write a nice resignation letter and wish them luck.

I want to shed tears over the situation and I probably will, but I pray that this will be the best for all concerned. I have faith in our Lord God and He will help us get through this, because the extra money helped with the bills. It is definitely a hard decision to make, but I feel relieved already just by making this decision. I don't want to try and find another part time job at this point. It will open up some time for me to work on my little greeting card business, volunteer more at the hospital and spend more time with my family.

Now for some good news. We had a wonderful time in Georgia and Kentucky last week. Chuck and I left here Thursday night and got back Tuesday night. We put over 2600 miles on the jeep. We had beautiful weather and the lack of humidity helped with Chuck's breathing.

We decided to take another day with our daughter, April. I went to school with her. She's a 3rd grade teacher in Georgia and so I spent the day with her and she did put me to work, working one on one with some of her kids. Since this is what I have been doing as a Teacher Assistant for the last 20 years, I was in my element. Her principal even came to her room and offered me a job. He was serious and I was flattered. Unfortunately our grandkids are here in Texas. Need I say more?????????

We drove to Kentucky on Sunday to attend the 90th BD party for my late cousin's wife. It was such an exciting day. I met cousin's I had never met before. They were all just awesome and they were amazed we drove from Texas for a 2 hour party. Ruth is not like any 90 year old I had ever seen before. She looks 60, has the health of a 30 year old. After the party we all went outside to see her hike up her skirt so she could get on the back of the biggest motorcycle I had ever seen and the photographer took off with her for a ride. She was so cute sitting behind him and loving every minute of it.

The rocky mountains in Tennessee were beautiful and the leaves were just turning fall colors. It was cool and such a change from our hot, dry weather in Texas. Oh by the way, we finally got some rain. YEAH!

Yesterday was our granddaughter's 5th BD party at her house. It was a fun time for all and very noisy. To hear children's laughter is the most beautiful sound in the world. I hear it everyday Mon. thru Fri. at school and again every Sunday at church. What a blessing to be surrounded by children. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I pray all is well with my Dear Streamer Friends.

Love, Karen

 The Bachelor Rome

Oh yes, here we go again! I doubt if I will actually watch much of it this season since I work on Monday nights. I have to catch it on the west coast time. So he's a real life prince this time. I always laugh at the girls who are way out there and think that being obnoxious is a positive characteristic.

He is meeting them right now as they step out of the limousines. Wow, most of them are showing off their womanly charms already with their low necklines. What has ever happened to modesty and leave them guessing? A lot of pretty girls. Some even from Texas.

He's met 15 women and have 10 to go, then has to make the tough decision after only one evening to send some away already. You can usually tell by the sparkle in his eye who has made a good first impression on him. Oh my, the Houston socialite has just arrived. They showed her earlier when she received the flowers at her home telling her she was chosen for the show. She lives in a beautiful mansion, with a very sexy mama and a wardrobe that could rival Paris Hilton's. She is very sure of herself and a very spoiled little rich girl I think. She told him they had a lot in common. Yup, I thought, they sure do! But to me she is too childish for him. She thinks she's in the top three. We'll see!

There are several from Florida. A teacher and a registered nurse. I think he likes the teacher.

There is a tall young lady with very short hair. She just doesn't seem to fit in with the other girls. More on the tomboyish side.

Another young lady from Salt Lake City has just lured him away from some of the other girls and she's giving him her own floor show by some dance moves. She's very forward. UMMMMMMMM! For her sake I hope he likes flirts.

OOPS! Some of the girls have had a little too much to drink and getting a little loud.

Now a girl from Portland, Oregon is having him hug a tree. That is a different approach. I think he likes her though. She looks like the girl next door type.

Well the girl with the short hair is on the balcony and actually singing to him in an operatic voice. Not such a tomboy after all. Surprises, surprises.

Heather from Florida is drunk and just confessed she is beautiful. She looks like Farrah Faucett. She's the RN.

The girl in white is just about to fall out of her top of her dress. Now a very pretty blond is talking to him. Her name is Sadie from California. She is cute and elegant with a modest top.

Something is about to happen. Oh here they come, the two Italian girls. Both very beautiful and the other girls do not look pleased. The claws are about to come out I think. One of the Italian girls was also giving him a show with her very sexy dance moves. Oh MY!

He's giving a rose and earrings to some lucky girl right now. He chose the tree hugger from Oregon. I guess it's a good approach after all. She's very modest in her gown and the girl next door type. He might be pretty smart after all.

It's time for him to give out the roses. Oh the suspense of it all!!
OH YEH RIGHT!

Well, he has one left. Oh who will it be? AHHH, one of the Italian girls.

Oh the tears!!!!!!!!! Many Smiles!!!!!!!!!

Well the race is on!!!!!!

OOPS! Have to get to bed. One o'clock here. Was it worth it staying up so late? Not really!!

YEP, the Houston Socialite is still in the running. Farrah and the opera singer. NOPE!

GOODNIGHT! Karen
